Culpeper, VA – The Culpeper County Department of Economic Development proudly announces that Winona Pritts, Business Development Manager, has been named the 2024 Young Professional of the Year by the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce. This award celebrates Pritts’ remarkable dedication to Culpeper County’s economic growth, her commitment to community service, and her innovative approach to connecting residents with local businesses and farms.
In her role, Winona has created and grown programs that have significantly impacted Culpeper. Among her many achievements, Be A Culpeper Local Week has encouraged residents to explore local businesses and engage with their community, generating a substantial economic boost for small businesses. Her Choose Culpeper Farms initiative has become a cornerstone of the county’s agricultural outreach, connecting the community with local farms and ag-related organizations, and providing year-round resources and event promotion through an innovative website.
Bryan Rothamel, Director of Culpeper County Economic Development, praised Pritts’ work, stating, “Winona’s commitment to our community is evident in every project she undertakes. She brings people together, builds partnerships, and creates meaningful programs that support our businesses and agriculture. Pritts’ work has gained regional and national attention. Her efforts with Be A Culpeper Local Week and the Choose Culpeper Farms website were honored by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC), underscoring the innovative and impactful nature of her programs. Pritts’ dedication to collaboration and excellence has also been recognized locally with the Ag-vocate in Marketing award from Culpeper’s Virginia Farm Bureau and the Community Partner award from Culpeper Renaissance Inc.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Winona exemplifies community spirit through her extensive volunteer work. She is the chair-elect for Career Partners, Culpeper’s non-profit that connects the school system and local businesses to prepare students for the workplace. Through Career Partners, Winona has mentored CTEC students, coached E-Squared teams, and leads both the marketing and mock interview committees. Additionally, Winona will serve as chair of the Culpeper Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals board in 2025, and she is an active member of the Rotary Club of Culpeper. Year-round, she volunteers with the Chamber’s Young Professionals, the Rotary Club, Culpeper Renaissance Inc., and other local organizations, demonstrating her dedication to supporting the Culpeper community.
Pritts’ volunteerism extends to Culpeper County Public Schools, where she is a valued presence in school events, Career Days, and fundraisers. Her dedication as a community leader and active parent has made her a beloved figure among parents, students, and educators alike.
