Culpeper, VA – Be A Culpeper Local Week, now in its third year, once again brought the community together to show unwavering support for Culpeper’s small businesses. Held from August 3-11, 2024, this annual event highlighted the unique charm that local businesses bring to the area, offering residents amazing food, fun activities, and great shopping experiences.
With over 40 businesses participating, Be A Culpeper Local Week sparked significant community engagement, as businesses reported over 1,200 transactions during the event, generating an economic impact of more than $40,000. The week-long celebration was an opportunity for residents to earn the coveted #ChooseCulpeper t-shirt by making purchases or receiving services from at least five different businesses. Over 120 people proudly earned their shirts, a testament to the community’s commitment to supporting local.
“Our small businesses are the backbone of Culpeper’s economy,” said Winona Pritts, Business Development Coordinator for Culpeper County. “Events like Be A Culpeper Local Week not only boost sales for these businesses but also strengthen our sense of community. It’s wonderful to see so many residents and businesses coming together to make this event a success.”
Throughout the week, the Culpeper County Department of Economic Development spotlighted each participating business and highlighted the exclusive event specials and promotions they offered. The department also shared important information on how shopping locally impacts the local economy, emphasizing the significant role small businesses play in providing jobs and fostering a strong sense of community in Culpeper.
