SkillUp Culpeper
SkillUp Culpeper is our new workforce training initiative under the County’s Work In Culpeper (WinC) program and is designed to provide practical, employer-driven training opportunities for local businesses and their employees.
SkillUp Culpeper: Emerging Leaders Series is a two-session supervisory and leadership training program designed to support employees who are preparing for supervisory, management, or expanded responsibilities, as well as those who have been recently promoted. As a refresher:
-
Session dates for our first cohort will be Wednesday, March 11 & Wednesday, April 8
-
Sessions will be held at Germanna Community College – Daniel Technology Center from 9:00–11:00 AM. We’re asking for attendees to check-in at 8:30 AM to get situated for the event. Coffee and donuts will be provided
-
Participation is limited to a maximum cohort of 20 attendees
-
If interest exceeds capacity, we may cap the number of participants per business
-
This series will be offered again in the fall (dates TBD)
We ask that businesses email to let us know how many employees your business may be interested in sending. Once we have an approximate headcount and if limits are needed, we will provide an official signup for businesses to register their identified employees.
SkillUp Culpeper: Thrive at Work will focus on essential workplace and soft skills for employees in general workplace positions across Culpeper County.
From our conversation we are currently structuring this program to include:
-
2-hour sessions over the course of 3–4 weeks
-
A potential certification component upon completion
To ensure this program reflects the most pressing needs facing your business, we’ve created a brief survey and are asking for your input.
Based on initial planning, we anticipate:
-
A spring cohort of 12–15 participants, held on either Mondays or Fridays from 9:00–11:00 AM
-
A fall cohort held on Mondays or Fridays from 1:00–3:00 PM
